All New Zealand bed and breakfast, farmstay and homestay owners are invited to join KiwiBBHosts, an on-line community of colleagues. Membership is restricted to Owners in Residence, of New Zealand B&Bs or equivilant facilities, with fewer than seven rooms, serving at least a Continental Breakfast.

Here are the step-by-step
INSTRUCTIONS
on how to sign up for KiwiBBHosts.

KiwiBBHosts is an on-line community dedicated to New Zealand owner-in-residence Bed and Breakfast / Homestay hosts. The forum is private, and only qualifying applications will be accepted.

Now, it's not really complicated, so don't let the length of the following confuse or deter you from joining the fun. We're just going to give you the Step By Step instructions for joining, so you won't have any trouble.

Please print these instructions and come on board.

1. Click here to register your ezBoard account.

2. Register a Global User Account

Login Information
  • First Name / Last Name
  • Address
  • Zip code (leave blank)
  • Country: enter New Zealand
  • Preferred User Name: use the name of your bed and breakfast, NOT your personal name. No spaces. For example, happyhourbb.
  • Desired Password: your choice.
  • Your Secret Question: your choice.
  • Email Address: your primary e-mail address.
  • Birth Year (we usually suggest 1901; it is entirely irrelevant, but required by ezBoard.)
  • Gender (again, irrelevant, but required. Enter one or the other if both apply.)

UNCHECK: Yes! I want to receive messages and special offers from ezboard's partners.Otherwise you'll be bombarded with junk mail.

CHECK: I agree to ezboard's Terms of Use

Click on REGISTER MY GLOBAL ACCOUNT

The next page is called Last Step: Free Sponsors Offers. At the bottom right of this page ... click on No Thanks.

3. A page may appear with any problems, such as a password that doesn't match, or a userid name that has already be taken, or other information that you omitted. If necessary, go back and re-configure your username. For example, if happyhourbb has been taken already, try bbhappyhour or happyhrbb or someother variant.

One common problem is that you may ALREADY have an ezBoard account in the same e-mail address. Unless you have paid to become an "ezBoard Supporter" you may only have one account per email address. You can get ezBoard to send you that information by trying to log in and going to the Forgot Password page - or you may have another email address you may use.If you already have another ezBoard account, we will allow you to use that id - we will NOT require you to have a B&B-related id if you already have another one. We're not that anal !

4. It does not cost anything! Notice that ezBoard will TRY to get you to sign up for ezBoard Supporter Status - this is NOT necessary. You do not need to pay anything to ezBoard at this point, or ever. If you do, it will go to ezBoard, NOT to KBBHosts, and you will still owe us the initiation fee.

Notice also that ezBoard will present you with a screenful of junkmail options. Do not select any of the radio buttons (don't even click on the "no" button). Scroll right to the bottom of the page and click on No Thanks.

If a blank, or "bad," page appears, do NOTHING right away. Wait. Go check your e-mail in 5 minutes. It is very possible (way too often) that ezBoard glitched at this point, and accepted your application but did not give you a confirmation screen. They will send you a confirming e-mail if the application was processed before the glitch.

5. Now go to your e-mail account and you will find an e-mail from noreply@ezboard.net that has Validation Instructions. Click on the link in that e-mail and you will go to the validation page, and then : You can login by CLICKING HERE.

6. Near the top right of this page, below the black banner, is an arrow pointing to "login". Click there and then enter your Userid and Password. This will take you to your My Acccount or My Control Centre page (same page, two names).

7. Click Edit Profile (text link in upper left of your Control Centre page). Follow these steps exactly as shown below:

Personal Information (required info in RED; other steps optional)
  • My Photo: Uncheck “private”
    Enter complete URL address of your chosen graphic: Don’t forget “http://”
    Example: http://www.KiwiBBHosts.com/homes/mypix.jpg
    The URL for one photo taken from our Web page will be supplied to you as soon as your application is approved. You may use this URL to prevent unnecessary and irrelvant “hits” on your own Web site. You may change it later to reference any other graphic on the Net. Note that whatever you choose will be reformatted to a 60x60 pixel square, regardless of original size or shape.
  • My First name: uncheck “private”
  • My Last name: uncheck “private”
  • My Birth Year: enter any number but check “private” (we usually enter 1901)
  • My Location: enter your Town and Province.
  • My Occupation: optional field
  • My Hobbies: optional field
  • My Brief Personal Bio: optional field
Contact Information (required info in RED; optional steps may be omitted)
  • E-Mail: Your e-mail address should appear in the left margin. Check box “Show E-mail Address”
    If address is wrong, please complete this screen and save changes first, then return to this screen, and click “Change E-mail Address”
  • Instant Messaging: optional fields
  • Personal Home Page Link: Overtype “My Personal Link” with the proper NAME of your bed and breakfast. Not the URL
  • Link URL: Enter the compete URL of your primary bed and breakfast Web site. Please do not forget to enter “http://” first. Example: http://www.mybandb.com or http://www.bbexpo.com/mypagethere
  • Show My 4 Most Recent Posts. Check the box. It doesn't always work, but sometimes it helps.
Profile Customization

This is only available if you are an ezBoard “Supporter.” That support is optional. These fields are optional.

SAVE CHANGES. Click on button to save your changes. This will take you back to your Account or Control Centre page. You should see your photo now on this page.

8. Click Account Preferences (text link in upper left of your Control Centre page)

Browsing & Viewing

Leave all default settings as they are.

Posting & Messaging (optional)

Leave all default settings as they are EXCEPT:

  • Use Custom Signature: put a check in the box to use signature.
  • Enter the following code in the text box, using your name, URL, property and location.

    My Name[br][link=www.mybandb.com]My Bed and Breakfast Name[/link], City/Town

    Look it over carefully, especially at the following elements: the [BR] is a line break, or carriage return to anyone over the age of 50. The [link= … ] references your primary B&B Web site page or domain; in this instance the http:// is not required, and there are no quotation marks. The [/link] follows the name of your B&B, closing the link. The result of this is that a click on your B&B name will take the browser directly to your Web site. Follow this with either a comma or another [BR] if you wishe, and then your town and province location. This is your introduction to “ezCodes.”
  • It is important to have a proper signature, because whenever you post a recipe that we move to the public recipe file, you will get a nice new free link to your Web site! If you don't configure your signature, we won't have the link!
  • ezCodes. Leave the radio circle checked (dotted).
Privacy & Security (required info in RED; optional steps may be omitted)
  • Enable high security. Uncheck this box. You won’t have to log on as often.
  • Enable ezInnBox. Check this box (default)
  • Accept Administrator Email. Check this box (default)
  • Be Anonymous in Who's Online. DO NOT check this box even if it is available to you (an ezBoard Supporter option)
  • Change My Password. Don’t bother unless you want to. You can come back and do this anytime.
Control Center
  • Control Center Skins. Wait to play with this till you are more familiar with ezBoard.

SAVE CHANGES. Click on button to save your changes. This will take you back to your Account or Control Centre page.

9. My Favorites (optional)

Please pardon the American spelling here. You may enter as many ezBoards as you wish as "Favorites" so that you can easily access them each with a single click. We will set up CanadaBBHosts as one, now.

  • Click on Add/Remove favorites...
  • Enter bkiwibbhosts in the text box. Notice the initial b, the word is plural, and it is all lowercase.
  • Click the ADD button. KiwiBBHosts will appear below. Click on My Account (top left of screen) to return to your Account or Control Centre page.

10. There are other modifications you can make later, but the ones given here are essential for membership.

11. Now click on the KiwiBBHosts favourite OR enter the following URL in your browser:

Almost there! Just click on Apply For Membership.

That’s it.

Now you just have to wait for the Moderator to notice that you have applied, and if your profile is completed they will review your application. Or, send us a note and tell us to hurry up and open the gate. If accepted, you’ll get a welcome letter from the Moderator, usually within 48 hours. You will have 48 hours after that note to supply your Visa or MasterCard information and then you will be able to access the chat board and your property will appear on the provincial pages of this directory.

If your membership is Declined, you will receive only a message from ezBoard to that effect. There will be no reason given. Nothing will be charged to your credit card (we won't even have the information yet) It is not KBBH policy to give reasons for declined membership. You will probably find a clue in more closely reviewing the Membership Criteria.

12. Welcome!

No owner of more than one bed and breakfast in New Zealand is permitted to belong. Any unauthorised use or distribution of our membership mailing list is not permitted and will be grounds for removal from this group. The owners of www.KiwiBBHosts.com and its associated ezBoard have the unfettered authority to change any of these conditions, and to admit, deny, censor, delete and/or ban any Applicant or Member at anytime and without cause, explanation or liability of any kind. Conversely, any Member may leave this group at any time without cause or explanation.
